How to Change Your Store’s Domain Name on Shopify

Your online store’s domain name is part of your brand identity, helping customers easily find and remember your website. However, there might come a time when you need to change your domain name due to rebranding, better domain availability, or other reasons. If your store is powered by Shopify, the process of changing your domain name is straightforward.

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Go to Shopify.com and sign in.
  2. On your admin dashboard, click “Settings” on the bottom left corner.
  3. Click “Domains” on the left side menu.
  4. Click “Change to a new myshopify.com domain”.
  5. Type your new domain name.
  6. Click “Add domain”.

Keep in mind that you can only change your domain name once no matter what kind of Shopify subscription you have.

If you’ve purchased a custom domain name and linked it to your Shopify account, simply click the domain and then click “Set as primary” to make it your store’s official URL.
